Cornell Cooperative Extension is pleased to announce the Supporting Healthy Families Program to the residents of Warren and Essex Counties!
This joint collaboration will be offered via ZOOM for five Thursdays beginning on January 14th from 11:00 am to 12:00 noon. There is no cost to attend.
The program is based on Cornell University’s “Discipline Is Not A Dirty Word” and the “Parenting Skills Workshop Series” curriculums. It is appropriate for parents/caregivers with children from toddler to teens. It will combine basic parenting skills with healthy lifestyle skills offering parents/caregivers the unique opportunity to foster healthy relationships with the children in their care. The parenting skills will focus on encouragement, addressing misbehaviors in a positive manner, offering choices, discipline vs. punishment, looking at the environment instead of the child’s behavior and setting a good example. Healthy lifestyle principles will complement the parenting skills each week.
Pre-registration is requested by January 10th to receive class materials on time. If you are an Essex County resident please call Samantha Davis at 518-962-4810 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
